DHCD improves the District's communities with grant programs, training sessions, and financial and manpower resources for emergency shelters, enterprise community development, and housing programs for elderly, disabled, and low and moderate income individuals. Housing Finance For Elderly, Dependent, and Disabled The Housing Finance For Elderly, Dependent, and Disabled program provides financing to commercial and nonprofit applicants to develop housing, including community-based residential facilities that house individuals with special needs, including drug and alcohol abusers, the homeless, the mentally and physically disabled, and the elderly. The Department of Housing and Community Development provides qualified organizations with loans for acquisition and rehabilitation assistance.
Housing Production Trust Fund Program The Housing Production Trust Fund program provides financial assistance to nonprofit and commercial developers for the planning and production of low to moderate-income housing and related facilities. Housing assistance can be for rental or homeownership properties. The program has a wide range of housing initiatives that focus on housing production and preservation.
