Affordable Housing Project Breaks Ground
(Washington, DC) On Thursday, April 4, 2002, Mayor Anthony A. Williams and community, business, and DC government representatives celebrated the groundbreaking of the Parkfair Apartments, an affordable housing project at 1611 Park Road, NW. The DC Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) has obligated $2 million in HPAP (Home Purchase Assistance Program) HOME funds to cover acquisition, predevelopment and some construction costs for the project.
DHCD supports Parkfair and other similar projects through a finely tuned formula of grants and loans to community based organizations. The agency's mission is provide quality and affordable housing opportunities and to increase homeownership for the residents of the District of Columbia. DHCD supports housing development projects by funding acquisition, pre-development, construction, and renovation costs.
