DHCD Sets 3 Public Hearings on DC's Housing and Community Development Needs
(Washington, DC) Stanley Jackson, director, Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD), announced three public hearings will be held on housing and community development needs in the District of Columbia. The meetings will take place on the November 12, 13, and 19, 2002 at the following locations:

The purpose of the hearings is to give residents an opportunity to express to DHCD what they think the priority needs are in the city for housing and community development; residents will also have an opportunity to evaluate DHCD's current and past performance. DHCD will use the input from the public, consistent with the District's economic development strategy, to draft the Consolidated Plan for the District of Columbia Fiscal Year 2004 Action Plan. The Action Plan serves as the District's application to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the following federal entitlement programs:
- Community Development Block Grant Program
- HOME Investment Partnerships Program
- Emergency Shelter Grants Program
- Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS Program
