Home Investment Partnerships (HOME) Program

The Department of Housing and Community Development receives Home Investment Partnerships (HOME) program funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The HOME program supports building, buying, and/or rehabilitating affordable housing for rent, homeownership, or provides direct rental assistance to low-income residents. HOME is the largest federal block grant to state and local governments designed exclusively to create affordable housing for low-income households.

Shortly after HOME funds become available each year, HUD informs eligible jurisdictions of the amounts earmarked for them. Participating jurisdictions must have a current and approved Consolidated Plan, which will include an action plan that describes how the jurisdiction will use its HOME funds.

Community Housing Development Organizations (CHDOs) are eligible for certain set-aside funding from the HOME Program (which is governed by federal regulations at 24 C.F.R. Part 92).
