The DC Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) will host "Buyers and Benefits," a free seminar for home buyers and homeowners commemorating June as National Homeownership Month, from 10 am to 3 pm Saturday, June 29th at DHCD's Housing Resource Center, 1909 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SE.
The Buyers and Benefits Seminar will feature panel discussions on the District's Home Purchase Assistance Program (HPAP), homeownership tax benefits, the Heirs Property Assistance program, and a Q&A session with mortgage lenders. Additional vendors will from District Government agencies, housing community-based organizations, and financial institutions.
- Buyer Prepare: This panel discussion will examine the financial and credit readiness needed for first-time homebuyers.
- For Tax Purposes: This panel discussion will examine the federal and local tax benefits of homeownership.
- Property Heirs: This panel discussion will examine the transferring of real property when a family member passes.
- Ask The Lender: This Q&A session will offer insight on the approval and underwriting process of home mortgages.
