In her Fiscal Year (FY) 23 budget, Mayor Bowser proposed the establishment of an Heirs Property Assistance Program to assist an estimated 1,000 individuals from multi-generational families in maintaining their family property after the original homeowner passes. The program will provide grants to low-income individuals to pay for legal services necessary to obtain clear legal title to inherited property.
