The Housing Provider Ombudsman (HPO) helps small housing providers better understand the District of Columbia’s housing laws. The HPO is available to help in the following ways:

Explains HRA notices, petitions and other forms

Offers education and outreach

Listens to comments, complaints and questions

Provides technical assistance on rent control, tenant opportunity to purchase, and the sale and conversion processes

Supplies information on resources

Directs small housing providers to the proper party
The HPO does not provide legal advice and communications with the HPO are not confidential. However, small housing providers may contact the HPO anonymously.
