The District's Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act (TOPA) provides financial and technical assistance to tenant groups that are pursuing the purchase of their apartment buildings with the intention to convert them to cooperatives or condominiums.
This workshop, sponsored by the Housing Regulation Administration (HRA) of the DC Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD), will take tenants, landlords and other housing providers step-by-step through their rights and responsibilities under the law. This will include information on:
- Tenant Purchase Rights
- Offers of Sale
- Tenant Deadlines
- Notice of Transfer
- Filing a TOPA Complaint
