Project provides 78 units of affordable housing for homeless men and women

(Washington, DC) – Mayor Vincent C. Gray, DC Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) Director John E. Hall and So Others Might Eat (SOME) gathered to celebrate the grand opening of Bedford Falls, which provides 78 units of affordable housing for homeless men and women.

Bedford Falls, located at 350 50th Street SE in Ward 7,  is named in honor of Joanne and William Conway, whose support of SOME has helped the organization provide safe, affordable housing and other services to those in need.  Bedford Falls is the name of the Conway’s Foundation.

“It is important to provide opportunities for our must vulnerable populations.  Projects like Bedford Falls enable those who were previously homeless to achieve self-sustainability,” said DHCD Director Hall.   “SOME is a valued DHCD partner.”

Bedford Falls is one of six sites included in a multi-building scattered site project that provides affordable housing throughout Wards 7 and 8.  Ultimately, this project will provide 251 units of safe, affordable housing for low income persons.  DHCD invested more than $13 million into this project.
