(Washington, DC) – The DC Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) has developed a Historic Preservation Plan for the Big K site and for the agency’s work in Historic Anacostia.  The plan provides information about the status of the historic properties on the Big K site and describes a strategic approach to all of DHCD’s work in Historic Anacostia.

In addition, DHCD will hold a community meeting on Tuesday, January 24 at 7 pm to provide an opportunity to learn about the next steps for the Big K Site and the overall preservation plan for Historic Anacostia.  The meeting will be held at DHCD, located at 1800 Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue SE, in the First Floor Conference Room.

In the coming months, DHCD will be working to refine the Historic Preservation Plan and then put it into action.  DHCD would like to invite the community stakeholders to review the plan and make comments.  Residents may  provide written comments  until February 17, 2012 at 12 noon to [email protected].  Residents may also mail comments to: DC Department of Housing and Community Development, Property Acquisition/Disposition Division, 1800 Martin Luther King Avenue, SE, Washington, DC 20020.   DHCD will review and consider the community’s feedback as the plan is being refined.  In addition, this plan will be reviewed by the Historic Preservation Review Board on January 26, 2012.
