Weekly Report on Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act (TOPA) Filings

The Rental Conversion and Sale Division (CASD) administers the registration provisions of:

  • The Condominium Act of 1976, as amended
  • The Rental Housing Conversion and Sale Act of 1980, as amended

The Conversion Act includes the Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act (TOPA) which regulates the conversion of use, sale, and transfer of rental housing in the District.

The Rental Conversion and Sale Division Weekly Report, found below, reports TOPA-related filings received by CASD during the prior week. Filings fall into two categories:

  1. Condominium and conversion of use; and
  2. Sales and transfers.

CASD publishes TOPA-related filings received for the prior week as a service to the public. Best efforts are made to present the most current and correct information, however inadvertent errors in information may occur. The District does not guarantee the completeness, accuracy, timeliness of information and data, or that such information and data will be error-free. The publishing of TOPA-related filings shall not create liability on the part of the District or by any officer or employee thereof for any damages that result from reliance on the published information.
