Affordable housing landlords in the District say more requests for rent relief are coming in and they expect operating expenses to increase as the pandemic drags on, according to a new survey conducted by city officials.
D.C.’s Department of Housing and Community Development found that 56% of respondents saw either “large” or “modest” increases in tenants asking for a break on rent in May compared with April. The 50 owners, developers and managers — who were surveyed between June 3 and July 1 — control a total of 81 properties around D.C.
