Two three-bedroom, three-bathroom historic houses in D.C.’s Anacostia list for under $300,000

Monday, October 19, 2020

When the pandemic and economic shutdown began to hit the District in March, there were some anxious weeks about what that would mean for the local housing market.

While activity paused in early spring, buyers came back strong over the summer, driving median sales prices even higher because of the limited number of homes for sale. In September, the median sale price for a house in the District rose to $639,000, an 11 percent increase compared with September 2019, according to Bright MLS.

To address affordability challenges for District residents, the D.C. Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) recently moved and rehabilitated two historic Anacostia houses from the Maple View Flats development on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SE, which includes more than 100 affordable apartments.
