The DC Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) has established income limits and homebuyer assistance amounts for participation of very low income, low income and moderate-income households in the Housing Purchase Assistance Program (HPAP).
The income limits were determined based on the area median income established by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the Washington, DC metro area.
The first-time Homebuyer Assistance Table reflects gap financing assistance available for first-time homebuyers of up to $202,000, plus $4,000 for closing cost assistance. The gap financing and closing cost assistance are based on household income and size.
The income limits and homebuyer assistance amounts are effective for HPAP loans that close after August 10, 2023. Note: The effective date is based upon the loan closing date--not when an applicant applied for HPAP or received his or her notice of eligibility.
DHCD sets the income limits and homebuyer assistance amounts based upon the authority in Chapter 25, Title 14, DCMR, Section 2503, and Section 2510 of the HPAP rules
