June is National Homeownership Month, a time to encourage and promote homeownership, remind everyone of the importance of homeownership as one of the primary ways that District residents build wealth, and highlight how homeownership strengthens communities.
For National Homeownership Month 2025, the DC Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is planning a series of workshops to engage our community on topics relevant to homeownership and financial literacy. DHCD encourages you to attend the National Homeownership Month event on Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm.

June 3rd – LEDC Virtual DC Homebuying Orientation: The Latino Economic Development Center (LEDC) is hosting a workshop for DC Residents interested in purchasing their first home in the District and understanding the homebuying process. June 4th – HCS’s Pre-Purchase Orientation (PPO): Housing Counseling Services, Inc. is hosting an orientation for homebuyers on the purchasing process, down payment, and closing cost assistance programs. June 5th – HAND’s 34th Annual Meeting & Housing Expo: The Housing Association for Non-profit Developer (HAND) is hosting their 34th Annual Meeting and Housing Expo. HAND selected DHCD to receive the Best Housing Partner Award for 2025. DHCD Director Green will receive the award.
June 7th – HCS’s 8-Hour Homeownership Training Course: Housing Counseling Services, Inc. is hosting a course for the Home Purchase Assistance Program (HPAP). June 18th – 2025 DCHFA’s Homeownership Conference: The DC Housing Finance Agency (DCHFA) Homeownership Conference will convene a robust lineup of community stakeholders, partners, and community activists looking to connect, collaborate, and advocate for the implementation and expansion of accessible homeownership and homebuyer programs within the District. June 28th – Manna – Level Up Homeownership Expo: Manna is hosting this housing-related event for first-time homebuyers, residents looking to rent, or for those interested in learning about resources available for current homeowners.
