DHCD Expands Lead Safe Program to Help Residents with Home Hazards

(Washington, DC) – The DC Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) has announced a new initiative to help residents reduce home safety hazards, through the expansion of its Lead Safe Washington (LSW) program. The initiative, The Healthy Homes Program (HHP), will use intervention and repair services to remedy the following home hazards: damp and mold growth, excess cold, asbestos, radiation-radon, easy entry by intruders, fire risks, poor lighting and fall risks.

HPTF Financing Will Preserve Affordable Rental Units in Wards 1 and 8

(WASHINGTON, DC) – The DC Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) closed two loan agreements totaling more than $7.5 million that will help preserve more than 60 affordable rental housing units — capable of housing over 150 residents — in Wards 1 and 8. The funding was made available through the Housing Production Trust Fund (HPTF).
