(Washington, DC) The Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is seeking applications from qualified Community Housing Development Organizations (CHDO) for operating grant funding under the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s HOME program.
A CHDO is a specific type of nonprofit organization with a defined mission to provide decent, affordable housing to low-income households. Although many nonprofit organizations share common characteristics with CHDOs, not all non-profits qualify as CHDOs under HUD’s HOME program. Only nonprofit organizations that have been certified as CHDOs can receive HOME funds.
Funding under this Request for Applications (RFA) notice will be available in FY 2010, beginning on October 1, 2009. Awardees must be certified as CHDOs by DHCD by the time of grant execution. In addition, awardees under this RFA must have received written approval for a HOME funded project from DHCD by the time of grant execution.
Printed applications are available for pick up at DHCD, 1800 Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue SE, third floor, Residential and Community Services Division. The application is also available below. Applications should be returned to DHCD no later than 4 pm on August 28, 2009.
