DHCD Solicits Public Comment Regarding Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-housing Program Funding

According to HUD guidelines, HPRP funding may be used for homelessness prevention, diversion and rapid re-housing.

(Washington, DC) - The Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) released for public comment a plan for the $7.49 million in Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-housing Program (HPRP) funding designated for the District by the federal government.

According to HUD guidelines, HPRP funding may be used for homelessness prevention, diversion and rapid re-housing. Activities may include, but are not limited to financial assistance, housing relocation and stabilization, data collection and evaluation, and administrative costs to serve homeless individuals and families, and those at risk of homelessness.

The proposed plan is available to the public for comment and can be downloaded below. To request a printed copy, contact Pamela Hillsman at (202) 442-7251 on or after April 22, 2009.  Additionally, the public may provide comment about the proposed plan at a public hearing on April 29 at 6:30 pm at the Old Council Chambers, 441 4th Street, NW.
