Walk Through of Two Affordable Homeownership Opportunities in Historic Anacostia

(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Friday, September 25, at 12:30 p.m., Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) Director Polly Donaldson will hold a media availability to tour two completely rehabilitated homes at 1319 V Street, SE and 1328 W Street, SE respectively.

WHO:

Director Polly Donaldson

Department Officials

WHEN:

Friday, September 25, at 12:30 p.m.

WHERE:

1319 V Street, SE

*Closest Metro Stations: Anacostia*

The Historic Anacostia Homes were relocated and rehabilitated on this lot from the Maple View Flats & Big K development on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, SE. The media availability is part of an effort to make formally vacant and blighted properties, transformed under the agency’s Property Acquisition and Disposition Division (PADD), available to the public for purchase. Shortly following the media availability, the homes will be put up for sale.

Additionally, Director Donaldson will preview the adjacent 15,000 square foot lot being made available by DHCD as a design-build opportunity to complete three single-family semi-detached homes with private driveways. The preview follows the announcement by Mayor Bowser on September 2, 2020, that DHCD would be contributing further equitable development opportunities by prioritizing equity inclusion in the selection of the development teams for this site.

The homes and development site are in the heart of Historic Anacostia a short walk from Frederick Douglas National Historic Site, Busboys & Poets, Anacostia Arts Center, and a commercial corridor with more exciting developments delivering every day.

All reporters and other media interested in attending the event are required to RSVP to [email protected]. Additional information on the homeownership opportunities and the Request for Proposals will be made available on DHCD’s website.
