Public Hearing for 2629 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SE

The DC Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is holding a public hearing to consider the proposed disposition of 2629 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. SE, a residential apartment in the Barry Farm neighborhood of Ward 8.

This public hearing is being conducted to ensure that citizens are informed about the disposing and development of the property and can present their views. Citizens who would like to present oral testimony are encouraged to register in advance.

Plaza West Groundbreaking Celebration

Come Celebrate the Plaza West Groundbreaking. A  new construction of an affordable development for individuals, families and “Grandfamilies” –  seniors raising their grandchildren.

This was a partnership with Golden Rule Plaza Inc. (GRP), a nonprofit subsidiary of Bible Way Church, and the Henson Development Company, Mission First to build the Plaza West project at the northeast corner of 4th and K Streets NW.

The two main components of the development are:

HPTF Financing Will Help Preserve Affordable Housing for Over 80 Residents in Wards 7 and 8

Date Released: 

The DC Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) recently closed on two loans totaling more than $3.5 million that will preserve 36 units of affordable housing in Wards 7 and 8 for two tenant associations. Most units will be set-aside for households making no more than $59,000 a year (50 percent of the 2018 Median Family Income [MFI] for a family of four). Financing was provided through the Housing Production Trust Fund (HPTF).

This community in the Mount Vernon Triangle neighborhood has 223 affordable units including 173 affordable units for individuals and families and 50 grandfamily units.
