DHCD Releases Community Housing Development Organization Application

The Department of Housing and Community Development has made available an application for organizations seeking to become designated a District of Columbia Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO).
A CHDO is a private nonprofit, community based service organization whose primary purpose is to provide and develop decent, affordable housing for the community it serves.
Education Series: Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act (TOPA) for Tenants
The Department of Housing and Community Development will present an educational opportunity for Realtors and Housing Providers. This session will provide an overview of the District of Columbia's Rental Housing Conversion and Sale Act of 1980 relating to tenants' rights to purchase their building and first right of refusal.

The Department of Housing and Community Development (DCHD) will close its offices at 1800 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SE from 11:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 due to mandatory teambuilding workshops held at an off-site location.
Additional District government personnel have been assigned to answer phone calls to the department.
DHCD will resume normal hours of operation on Thursday, September 27, 2012.
