Public Hearing, Help Shape the District's Fiscal Year 2021 Annual Action Plan

By attending this hearing on the District's Fiscal Year 2021 Action Plan, you can help shape the development of policies and programs on: (1) affordable housing; (2) special needs housing; (3) homelessness; (4) homeownership; and (5) community development and public service activities.

The Action Plan is developed by the DC Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) regarding its use of U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funds. Community input is an important part of this process.

The Housing Production Trust Fund (HPTF) Advisory Board (Board) was established by the Council of the District of Columbia, under the Housing Production Trust Fund Act of 1988, effective on June 8, 1990 (DC Law 8-133; D.C. Official Code section 42-2802.01), as amended. The purpose of the Board is to advise the Mayor on the development, financing, and operation of the HPTF and other matters related to the production of housing for low to moderate-income households.

How Collaboration Leads To Homeownership

The four-story, mid-rise residential property at 1477 Newton Street NW is something of an anomaly in D.C., where the housing market can feel inaccessible and many residents struggle to have an ownership stake. The property is collectively owned by its residents, who were previously renting units in the building, some for more than 15 years. Homeownership in this area seemed like a long shot....

D.C. Closes Financing For 185-Unit Affordable Project In Petworth

A project that would create 185 affordable housing units in Northwest D.C.'s Petworth neighborhood is moving forward. Mayor Muriel Bowser announced Friday the District closed the financing for the Spring Flats project, a redevelopment of the historic Hebrew Home at 1125 Spring Road NW. The deputy mayor for planning and economic development selected Victory Housing in 2017 to develop the project. Wiencek + Associates is the project's architect. The property sits less than a half-mile from the Georgia Avenue-Petworth Metro station on the Green and Yellow lines....
