June is National Homeownership Month, a time to encourage and promote homeownership, remind everyone of the importance of homeownership as one of the primary ways that District residents build wealth, and highlight how homeownership strengthens communities. For National Homeownership Month 2024, DHCD will host events and participate in events to provide District residents and families with information, programs, and resources on homeownership. June 6th – DHCD's Neighborhood-Based Activities Program Information Session
DHCD hosted an Information Session on Tuesday, June 6th at 1:30 pm on Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding. The information session provided qualified community-based organizations information on DHCD's programs activities and how it prioritizes spending CDBG funding.
June 18th – 3rd Anniversary DC’s Blueprint for Bridging the Gap" Panel - Black Homeownership Collaborative
The Black Homeownership Collaborative (BHC) commemorated the commitment to create 3 million net new Black homeowners by 2030. Launched on the first federal Juneteenth holiday in Cleveland, OH, with former HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge and Senator Sherrod Brown, the BHC convened housing groups, community leaders, and elected officials in combatting the impacts of harmful housing policies on the Black community.
June 18th – Urban Institute: Policies for Action Housing Event
The Policies for Action team at the Urban Institute brought together a wide array of stakeholders for robust discussions about affordable housing policy on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. P4A research grantees shared highlights of the latest housing policy research, as evidence of what has worked, what has not, as a starting point for discussions about what could be on the horizon for new policy solutions. Key stakeholders included researchers, policymakers, community-based leaders and housing specialists.
June 21st – Housing Production Trust Fund 25th Anniversary Luncheon
The Coalition for Nonprofit Housing and Economic Development (CNHED) is celebrating the upcoming milestone of 25 years of funding for the District’s Housing Production Trust Fund (HPTF) Program! In honor of this momentous occasion, CNHED and key partners are organizing a HPTF Celebration Luncheon and Exhibit to not only uplift the program’s widespread impact.
June 22nd – DCHFA Homeownership Fair
DC Housing Finance Agency (DCHFA) is hosting their Homeownership Fair on Saturday, June 22, 204 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at Gallaudet University – Kellogg Conference Center. DCHFA Homeownership Fair will connect with local lenders, real estate agents, and community members while learning more about D.C. homebuying programs, credit repair options, and much more. June 22nd – Dream Big Homeownership Fair
The DC Housing Authority (DCHA) and MANNA Inc. for the Dream Big Homeownership Fair, a free educational event on the homebuying process on Saturday, June 22 from 12 pm to 4 pm at the Cambria Hotel Washington DC Navy Yard Riverfront (69 Q Street SW, Washington DC). This event will help to first-time homebuyers, Dream Big features panels and discussions with experts in all facets of the homebuying industry and offers information on down payment and closing cost assistance programs. Have your questions answered and meet face-to-face with realtors, mortgage lenders, title and settlement agents, home inspectors and housing counselors. June 25th – National Affordable Homeownership Models
DHCD Director Green will speak at the National Affordable Homeownership Models panel. HAND, National Housing Trust, and Grounded Solutions Network hosted a session on what homeownership models have been successful around the country, the policies making them possible, unique funding sources and more.
June 27th – DHCD’s Housing Production Trust Fund (HPTF) Advisory Board
The Housing Production Trust Fund (HPTF) Advisory Board is holding the monthly virtual meeting on June 27th, 2024 from 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm.
June 29th – DHCD’s Buyers and Benefits Seminar
